living in 1881, mostly additions to letter A. Plus, knowing
how flexible Matlock's population had been in the past, I thought
it may be of interest to see how many had moved away from their
birthplace in the 1901 census. The Christian name John was chosen
as it was a popular name at the time. The number of over 18
year olds found to have left Matlock in 1901 totalled 145, and
only a few were living within the county. These are all included,
plus 20 assorted additional names
